Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) introduced the Secure Our Ports Act, H.R. 252, legislation designed to strengthen our national security by prohibiting foreign adversaries from owning and operating critical infrastructure in the United States.  

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) voted along with a majority (264 to 159) of the House of Representatives to pass the Laken Riley Act, H.R. 29, legislation aimed at protecting Americans from criminal illegal immigrants. The bill would require the Department of Homeland Security to take into custody illegal immigrants who have been charged with, arrested for, or convicted of theft offenses, as was the case with Laken Riley’s killer. This legislation mandates that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detain such illegal immigrants until they can be removed from the country.

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) voted along with a bipartisan majority (281–140) of the House of Representatives to pass the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). The FY25 NDAA includes a number of provisions focused on improving the quality of life for service members and their families. 

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) voted along with a bipartisan majority (399 - 18) of the House of Representatives to pass the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), S. 4367. The final bipartisan, bicameral legislation authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Civil Works Program for projects to improve the nation’s ports and harbors, inland waterway navigation, flood and storm protection, and other aspects of our water resources infrastructure. The bill is expected to be approved by the Senate soon and head to the White House for the President’s signature. 

Today, Defense Appropriations Subcommittee Chairman Ken Calvert (CA-41) issued the following statement regarding the recently released Defense Department audit:

Today, the House Natural Resources Committee held a legislative hearing on H.R. 9515, a bill introduced by Rep. Ken Calvert (CA-41) to support Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program (LCR MSCP) activities. The bill would establish an interest-bearing account at the Department of Treasury to hold the funds contributed by the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada for the LCR MSCP.

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) announced his nominations for the U.S. Service Academies from the 41st Congressional District. As a Member of Congress, Rep. Calvert has the privilege of nominating a select group of highly qualified young men and women from the 41st District for an appointment to one or more U.S. Service Academies—Air Force, Naval, Military, and Merchant Marine.
