The critical battle in the Pacific Theater of World War II, in which nearly 7,000 U.S. Marines were killed, began 80 years ago this month and included the iconic raising of the American flag on Mount Suribachi. Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) reintroduced the Ensuring the Safety Our Mail Act, H.R. 1292, which will double the maximum jail sentence for anyone convicted of mail theft.
“It’s clear we must send a stronger message and have a more effective deterrent for would-be mail thieves,” said Rep. Calvert. “That’s why I have introduced the Ensuring the Safety of Our Mail Act, which would double the jail time for anyone convicted of mail theft.
