Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) reintroduced the Ensuring the Safety Our Mail Act, H.R. 1292, which will double the maximum jail sentence for anyone convicted of mail theft. 
 
“It’s clear we must send a stronger message and have a more effective deterrent for would-be mail thieves,” said Rep. Calvert. “That’s why I have introduced the Ensuring the Safety of Our Mail Act, which would double the jail time for anyone convicted of mail theft. Americans deserve to rely on the safe and secure delivery of their mail.”

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) announced the introduction of the HEARTS Act (Humane and Existing Alternatives in Research and Testing Sciences Act), H.R. 1291, bipartisan legislation encouraging the use and development of humane alternatives to animal testing experiments funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-1) is the Democratic co-lead and original cosponsor of the HEARTS Act.

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) introduced the Space Infrastructure Act, H.R. 1154, to direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to designate space systems, services and technology as a sector of critical infrastructure. Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) and Senator Alex Padilla (D-CA) reintroduced legislation to support Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program (LCR MSCP) activities. The bill would establish an interest-bearing account at the Department of Treasury to hold the funds contributed by the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada for the LCR MSCP. Reps. Dina Titus (D-NV-1), Susie Lee (D-NV-3), Steven Horsford (D-NV-4), and Greg Stanton (D-AZ-4) are original cosponsors of the House bill, H.R. 831, introduced by Rep. Calvert.
