Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) reintroduced the Federally Integrated Species Health (FISH) Act, H.R. 1894, to consolidate the management and regulation of the Endangered Species Act (ESA), with respect to anadromous species, within the Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). Currently, ESA authority is split between FWS and the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS).

Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) reintroduced legislation, H.R. 1821, to keep our communities safe by ensuring dangerous criminals are not released onto our streets. The Help Ensure Legal Detainers (HELD) Act would incentivize state and local law enforcement agencies to comply with federal law enforcement requests to transfer the custody of criminal illegal immigrants for their removal.

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) introduced the Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion (VSAFE) Act, H.R. 1663, to establish a Veterans Scam and Fraud Evasion Officer at the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA).

Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) introduced a resolution, H.Res. 142, in honor of the 80^th Anniversary of the Battle of Iwo Jima. The critical battle in the Pacific Theater of World War II, in which nearly 7,000 U.S. Marines were killed, began 80 years ago this month and included the iconic raising of the American flag on Mount Suribachi. Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24) is a co-lead and original cosponsor of the resolution. 

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) reintroduced the Ensuring the Safety Our Mail Act, H.R. 1292, which will double the maximum jail sentence for anyone convicted of mail theft. 
 
“It’s clear we must send a stronger message and have a more effective deterrent for would-be mail thieves,” said Rep. Calvert. “That’s why I have introduced the Ensuring the Safety of Our Mail Act, which would double the jail time for anyone convicted of mail theft. Americans deserve to rely on the safe and secure delivery of their mail.”

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) announced the introduction of the HEARTS Act (Humane and Existing Alternatives in Research and Testing Sciences Act), H.R. 1291, bipartisan legislation encouraging the use and development of humane alternatives to animal testing experiments funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Congressman Chris Pappas (NH-1) is the Democratic co-lead and original cosponsor of the HEARTS Act.
