The FY25 NDAA includes a number of provisions focused on improving the quality of life for service members and their families.
Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) voted along with a bipartisan majority (399 - 18) of the House of Representatives to pass the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), S. 4367. The final bipartisan, bicameral legislation authorizes the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Civil Works Program for projects to improve the nation’s ports and harbors, inland waterway navigation, flood and storm protection, and other aspects of our water resources infrastructure. The bill is expected to be approved by the Senate soon and head to the White House for the President’s signature.
Today, the House Natural Resources Committee held a legislative hearing on H.R. 9515, a bill introduced by Rep. Ken Calvert (CA-41) to support Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program (LCR MSCP) activities. The bill would establish an interest-bearing account at the Department of Treasury to hold the funds contributed by the states of Arizona, California, and Nevada for the LCR MSCP.

The bill would require the Veterans’ Administration (VA) to implement a new and improved customer service telephone system that informs callers of their estimated wait times and, if the wait is estimated to be longer than 10 minutes, to give the caller the option of receiving an automated call back when it is their turn in line.
