Today, the House Judiciary Committee advanced H.R. 4638, the BOWOW Act, legislation introduced by Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) to protect animals used by federal law enforcement agencies.

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) voted along with a majority (222 to 209) of the House of Representatives to pass the FY2026 Continuing Appropriations, Agriculture, Legislative Branch, Military Construction and Veterans Affairs, and Extensions Act. The bill, once signed into law by President Trump, will end the ongoing federal government shutdown. It includes full-year funding for three of the 12 annual appropriations bills – Agriculture, Legislative Branch, and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs.

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) re-introduced the Stuck on Hold Act, H.R. 5992, legislation designed to add convenience and transparency to Americans who call the Veterans Administration (VA) for assistance. The bill would require the VA to implement a new and improved customer service telephone system that informs callers of their estimated wait times and, if the wait is estimated to be longer than 10 minutes, gives the caller the option of receiving an automated call back when it is their turn in line.

Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) reintroduced the DOD Entrepreneurial Innovation Act, H.R. 5726, that would require the Department of Defense (DoD) to identify promising Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Programs for inclusion in future budgets and plans. Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) introduced the “Bill to Outlaw Wounding of Official Working Animals Act” or BOWOW Act, H.R.4638, to protect animals used by federal law enforcement agencies. In June, an immigrant from Egypt assaulted Customs and Border Patrol agriculture detector dog, Freddie, a beagle who had detected prohibited items in the luggage of the offending immigrant at Dulles Airport.

Today, Congressman Calvert announced that more than $67 million for 41st Congressional District water and transportation infrastructure projects was included in the Fiscal Year 2026 Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill. The bill was approved by the House Appropriations Committee last week and now advances to the House floor for consideration.

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) and Congresswoman Norma Torres (CA-35) praised the passage of H.R. 672 by the House of Representatives. The bill requires the U.S. Postal Service to designate a single, unique ZIP Code for the city of Eastvale, in addition to other communities across the country. The bill now moves on to the U.S. Senate for consideration. Reps. Calvert and Torres both represent portions of the city of Eastvale in the House of Representatives.
