Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) voted along with a bipartisan majority (316 to 113) to approve the Fiscal Year 2016 Omnibus Appropriations Act. The bill funds the federal discretionary budget for the remainder of the fiscal year. Rep. Calvert serves as the Chairman of the Interior and Environment Appropriations Subcommittee.
Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) introduced the Secure Accountability for Emigres and Refugees (SAFER) Act, H.R. 4291. The SAFER Act would add requirements to the Syrian and Iraqi refugee security vetting process.
"It has become all too clear to many Americans that our security screening processes for individuals wishing to enter our country are insufficient," said Rep. Calvert. "Peaceful people who wish to come to our country with good intentions have nothing to fear with these additional measures. I believe these are responsible steps we must take to protect Americans."

"I am happy to support this bill and protect American families and job creators from tax increases they simply can't afford," said Rep. Calvert. "I'm pleased that the House has been able to permanently codify a number of these expiring tax provisions and provided some much needed certainty in our tax code."
