Rep. Calvert Votes to Lower Energy Costs for American Families
Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) voted along with a bipartisan majority (225 to 204) of the House of Representatives for H.R. 1, the Lower Energy Costs Act. The bill contains a number of policy solutions aimed at lowering the cost of energy for American families and businesses.
“California families just trying to drive to work, heat their homes, or keep their lights on, have been hammered with higher energy costs,” said Rep. Calvert. “Prices are increasing because President Biden and Governor Newsom have done everything in their power to reduce the production of the traditional energy sources families depend on every day. I voted for H.R. 1 because it will put us back on track to produce more energy responsibly and efficiently here in America. By getting the government out of the way, we can create more American jobs, reduce our dependence on foreign oil and critical minerals, and ultimately lower energy costs for the everyday American.
“It is telling that President Biden and Democrats are all to eager to accept oil from dangerous dictators with no regard for the environment while shutting down American production. Their climate alarmism is nothing but a red herring to gain more control over the economy, regulate every day American energy usage, and lower the quality of life for Americans in the service of big government. I stand with my fellow Republicans to unleash the power of American energy, lower costs across the board, which will spur economic growth and innovation.”
H.R. 1 Would Unleash American Energy & Lower Costs for Families By:
- Increasing domestic energy production
- Reforming the permitting process for all industries
- Reversing anti-energy policies advanced by the Biden Administration
- Streamlining energy infrastructure and exports
- Boosting the production and processing of critical minerals
