Rep. Calvert Statement on Retirement of Rep. Pete Visclosky

November 6, 2019

Today Rep. Calvert, Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement on the retirement of Chairman Pete Visclosky (D-IN):

"It has been an honor and a privilege to work beside Congressman Pete Visclosky. I have had the pleasure of working with him in various capacities during my time in Congress, most recently as his Ranking Member on Defense Appropriations, and I can attest that his dedication to our country, and especially our U.S. service members and veterans, is second to none. He has dedicated his life to public service and to the proud constituents of Indiana's First Congressional District. He has been a leader on industrial base issues impacting our country, and particularly Indiana, as well as a strong voice for American workers. Pete's expertise in national security issues will be sorely missed.

"On a personal note, I will very much miss Pete's friendship and camaraderie in Congress. While we come from different sides of the aisle, we never had a problem finding common ground – a lost art in Congress lately. I would personally like to thank Pete for nearly three decades of friendship and for his tireless service to our country."
