Rep. Calvert Statement on Bipartisan Delegation Trip Focused on Ukraine
Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42), the Ranking Republican on the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, issued the following statement after returning from a bipartisan Congressional delegation trip to Poland, Romania, and Belgium focused on the ongoing war in Ukraine:
"The people of Ukraine are in a fight for their country and their lives. The ruthless brutality of Vladimir Putin and the Russian forces is causing death and destruction on a horrific level. It must be stopped. The United States, along with our allies, must continue to provide military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. It was made clear in our discussions, Ukrainians are not asking for Americans to join this fight, they are asking for the critical resources necessary to defend themselves from Putin's onslaught. I appreciate the leadership, commitment, and compassion being displayed by Poland and our NATO allies. All freedom loving people must unite and stand up to this evil."
In Poland, Rep. Calvert and the bipartisan delegation met with the U.S. Ambassador to Poland, Mark Brzezinski, U.S. Army soldiers, Ukrainian officials, and visited the Ukrainian border and refugee center.
In Romania, Rep. Calvert and the bipartisan delegation met with Romanian Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca and visited with U.S. and NATO troops.
In Brussels, Rep. Calvert and the bipartisan delegation met with Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana of NATO and visited the U.S. Embassy in Brussels.
