Rep. Calvert Secures $9 Million for Riverside County Water Infrastructure Projects
Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) announced that more than $9 million in federal funding for three water infrastructure projects in the 41st Congressional District was included at his request in the Fiscal Year 2025 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill. Rep. Calvert voted along with a majority of the House of Representatives to pass the bill last week. Funding included in the bill for local projects is allocated within their respective agency program accounts and does not raise the overall spending level of the bill.
“The resources provided in the FY25 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill for water infrastructure projects in the 41st District will have a big impact in our communities,” said Rep. Calvert. “I am proud of the collaborative effort between our local cities, water districts, and my office to deliver this funding in support of projects that will increase our local water supplies as well as improve the water quality in our neighborhoods.”
The bill includes $4 million for the Quail Valley Septic-to-Sewer Conversion Project that was requested by the Eastern Municipal Water District to fund the septic-to-sewer conversion project for “subarea 4” (1,400 unit capacity). This project would benefit about 250 low-income families in the area by alleviating water and sewage backup malfunctions and providing a more efficient and reliable sewage system. Rep. Calvert previously secured $5 million in federal funding in prior appropriations bills for this project.
“EMWD is exceptionally grateful for Rep. Calvert’s consistent support for addressing sewer infrastructure needs in Quail Valley. This project funding directly benefits an underserved community,” EMWD Board President Phil Paule said. “We appreciate Rep Calvert’s partnership as we work hard to bring our customers’ tax dollars back to improve local infrastructure and the quality of life in our communities.”
The bill includes $3 million for the Well Improvement Project that was requested by Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District to rehabilitate the 40-year-old Corydon Well in the City of Wildomar to benefit 159,000 people and 3,767 institutional, commercial, and industrial users in southwestern Riverside County.
“The Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) deeply appreciates Congressman Calvert's steadfast support in securing crucial funding for our water and sewer infrastructure projects,” said EVMWD Board President Chance Edmondson. “As our region continues to grow and confronts the challenges of climate change, these investments are vital. They will help diversify our water supply, enhance reliability, and ensure long-term resilience for our community.”
The bill includes $2,058,240 for the Recycled Water Improvement Project that was requested by the city of Norco to construct a recycled water pipeline to the City of Norco and the nearby Naval Surface Warfare Center, Corona Division to help reduce potable water demand by providing recycled water.
“Water is a critical issue in California,” said Norco Mayor Kevin Bash. “Norco has taken the steps to implement recycled water infrastructure to provide for the long-term sustainability of our local water system. This federal funding will help our city construct a reclaimed water pump system, storage reservoir and complete needed system improvements. Our ability to provide a source of recycled water to the Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona, as well as our community parks, is a significant investment in Norco. We appreciate Representative Calvert’s support of this project and his efforts to secure a critical federal investment for Horsetown USA.”
