Rep. Calvert: Scalise is the Right Choice to be Speaker

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41) issued the following statement:

“Our Republican Majority was sent to Washington to get work done on behalf of the American people. I believe Rep. Steve Scalise is the right choice to be our new Speaker and guide our Conference through a difficult time.  Steve is a stalwart conservative, he has demonstrated his ability to lead, and I believe he is the best person for the job.  I also fully support Rep. Tom Emmer to be our new Majority Leader and Rep. Guy Reschenthaler as Whip.  Now more than ever we need strong Republican Leadership to deliver on border security, reduced inflationary spending, a robust national defense, and many other conservative priorities.  At the same time, our Conference needs to understand that if we want to truly change the trajectory of our country we must work as a unified team and elect Republicans to the Senate and White House.
