Rep. Calvert: Pelosi bill uses our crisis to advance a political wish list

Press Release

Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-42) issued the following statement on Speaker Pelosi’s $3 trillion wish list bill:

“The bill before the House today symbolizes everything Americans despise about Washington. It tries to take advantage of a health and economic crisis to advance one party’s political wish list. Instead of following the path of our prior COVID-19 aid bills, which were products of bipartisan negotiations, Speaker Pelosi has charged ahead alone. As a result, the Pelosi bill is full of provisions that stand no chance of becoming law, including a new federal election law scheme that legalizes ballot harvesting, tax cuts for the wealthy, as well as benefits for lobbyists and the cannabis industry. We need to act based on the needs of our economy and health care system, not the political desires of either party. Congress must assess the effectiveness of the unprecedented aid it has already provided and take further actions that help our economy grow again and keep Americans healthy.”
