Rep. Calvert: Biden Budget Takes More Money from Working Families
Today, Congressman Ken Calvert (CA-41), Chairman of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, released the following statement on the President's Budget Request for Fiscal Year 2024:
“President Biden’s budget proposes more of the same disastrous policies that have led to higher spending levels, higher taxes, and higher inflation. Proposals to slap individuals and businesses with higher taxes will negatively impact all Americans, either directly or indirectly. I will strongly oppose these efforts to take more money from hard working Americans suffering from unchecked inflation.”
“President Biden and Congressional Democrats spent $3 trillion dollars over the past two years outside of the normal appropriations process. This runaway spending has fueled inflation and our national debt. I will be working with my colleagues in Congress to end this inflationary spending and put us on a path that reduces our deficit.”
“Yet again, President Biden is prioritizing misguided domestic spending and partisan priorities over our warfighting needs. During a time of rising global threats, our brave men and women in uniform must be adequately resourced with state-of-the-art capabilities. Yet President Biden’s budget request shows that this administration is not serious about the threats and challenges we face. I hope my colleagues in Congress will see this proposal for what it is and join me in working in a bipartisan manner to carry out our important work.”
