In addition, with advanced notice, special Congressional tours may be arranged. The main advantage to these tours is that you can avoid waiting in lines to obtain tickets. However, these tours are virtually the same as the public tours.
The Congressionally scheduled tours are very limited, and distributed on a first-come first-served basis. Also, once the request has been submitted, our office has little control over the decisions made by the specific sites.
We look forward to providing you with as much information as we can in order to help make your visit educational and memorable. Good luck with your visit planning!
NOTE: On March 5th, the White House notified us that unfortunately, due to staffing reductions resulting from sequestration, White House Tours are canceled effective Saturday, March 9, 2013 until further notice. Please see Rep. Calvert’s statement on sequestration for more information on the cuts that were implemented on March 1.
As of right now, our office does not have any information about when tours will resume. I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, particularly during the popular spring tour season. For updates regarding this situation, please contact the White House Visitors Office 24 Hour Hotline at (202) 456-7041.
